Dr. Jon Nash is the newly appointed Associate Director of Bands at Arkansas Tech University. As a graduate assistant at the University of Memphis, Nash was involved in all facets of the band band program. He served as the assistant conductor for the wind ensemble and symphonic band, and he also served as the conductor of the university band. While at Murray State University, Nash was an integral part of the band staff. He served as the assistant conductor for the wind ensemble, symphonic band, and jazz orchestra. He also served as the conductor of the jazz band, jazz laboratory big band, and trumpet ensemble. While at Murray, the Jazz Orchestra was selected to perform at the Kentucky Music Educators Association state conference, and the group was awarded the Outstanding Big Band award at the prestigious Elmhurst Jazz Festival. The trumpet ensemble under his direction was chosen to perform at the National Trumpet Competition. Prior to his appointment at Arkansas Tech, Jon enjoyed a successful tenure as a high school band director in Kentucky. Ensembles under Dr. Nash’s direction have achieved at high levels. His concert ensembles regularly achieved distinguished ratings at both the regional and state levels, and marching groups under his direction won multiple regional championships. Dr. Nash is sought after as a guest conductor, clinician, visual designer, and adjudicator with middle school, high school, and university bands, regional honor bands and marching contests. Nash holds graduate degrees from the University of Memphis and Murray State University. He was a student of Albert Nguyen, William Plenk, John Fannin, and Dennis Johnson.
